Bionaturae tomatoes in a glass jar! How nice to get away from cans that are lined with plastics that contain hazardous substances such as Bisphenol A which has been found to be toxic even at low levels. Another study has found links from this chemical to asthma and prostate cancer. Canned tomatoes were the one item hard to kick but the new jar is great.

I have recently discovered Middle Earth Organics tomato sauces in glass jars. They are the most delicious, and perhaps expensive, that I've come across. The Black Olives and Capers sauce is so scrumptious that it doesn't even require additions! I have yet to discover the other tomato in glass products made by Middle Earth Organics in local stores.

Here in Paris, I've noticed at my local organic grocery store, Naturalia, that all of the tomato products come in glass jars. Corn, other vegetables, and all kinds of cooked beans also come packaged in glass jars. Come to think of it, there may be no cans at all in the shop. There are plenty of plastics, though, and I'm not sure how all these plastics compare safety-wise. I've been very happy to find organic vegan yogurts packaged in adorable little glass jars. I'll also mention, I've yet to notice a single item in the shop that is not organic.
